“I had my first ever acupuncture facial with Dr. Renee in July 2019. I took before and after photos on my phone, and amazingly I could see a difference after one treatment! There was no pain whatsoever and while the needles were in, she gave me a neck massage. I suffer from TMJ and she showed me a pressure point to help relieve my tension. I was also instructed on a tongue placement to help relieve tension when I am not talking. I have used both techniques that she taught me on a regular basis. They work! Lastly, she taught me cupping techniques to use at home to further enhance the treatment. I ordered the cups for under $20 on Amazon. Dr. Renee has a lovely, kind and generous personality. I highly recommend an acupuncture facial with Dr. Renee.” – Lynn K.

Acupuncture has been safely used without side effects to treat skin complaints and reduce signs of aging for centuries.

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can provide a safe, effective, natural, and drug & surgery-free approach to reducing the signs of aging. In fact, facial rejuvenation acupuncture, also known as cosmetic acupuncture, has a recorded history going as far back as China’s Sung Dynasty (960AD – 1270AD), when the Empress and the Emperor’s concubines used it to engender beauty and good health.

When Acupuncture is used to create overall holistic health balance within the body, the physical, mental and emotional patterns that contribute to aging are addressed, helping you look and feel younger.

As we get older regeneration and detoxing lymphatic drainage function in the face and body can decrease. This leads to inadequate muscle tone, and over time, thinner and weaker skin that loses elasticity causing wrinkles and sagging skin. A variety of factors can contribute to this poor diet, digestion, and circulation, or emotional and environmental stresses.

You can give your face a lift and glow with facial acupuncture for cosmetic enhancement. Facial Rejuvenation using acupuncture tightens pores, improves muscle tone and dermal contraction while enhancing and increasing collagen production and the elasticity of the skin. Since Acupuncture is holistic you can also experience less stress and pain, better digestion, more energy and stamina for exercise, plus better sleep and mental clarity. Overall, you can look and feel more energetic, calm, vibrant and healthy.

Facial rejuvenation with acupuncture is virtually painless, and a non-surgical method to reduce the signs of aging.

Before using drugs or surgery to improve appearance, consider acupuncture. It is an effective, natural, safe, drug & surgery-free and painless alternative. It can even help your entire body look and feel younger.

Clinical Research on Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture

Research on cosmetic acupuncture is growing. A 2025 randomized trial found that facial and body acupuncture reduced frown lines in women ages 30–59, and earlier pilot studies and reviews report improvements in facial elasticity. Larger controlled studies are still needed. See current studies below:

[Your strongest source. A randomized trial of 72 women ages 30–59 given facial plus body acupuncture twice weekly for six weeks, compared against a wait-list group. At week 7, 63% had reduced frown lines at rest and 72% during maximum frowning, significantly better than the control group, and the improvements persisted at week 12. The comparison group received no treatment rather than sham acupuncture.]

[Maps 114 studies, including 48 randomized trials, mostly from China. The authors rated the trials’ overall quality as moderate, with few high-quality studies, so it shows a research base for acne, not proven efficacy.]

[A systematic review of 24 studies. In 17 of them, acupuncture showed statistically significant improvements compared with placebo acupuncture, other treatments, or no treatment. Conditions included facial elasticity and chloasma (melasma). The authors call for double-blinded future studies.]

[Reviews seven studies of facial acupuncture and facial exercises. They suggest potential for improving skin laxity, wrinkles, muscle thickness, and pigment changes, with few side effects, but the authors say more research is needed before the medical community accepts them as effective.]

[Pilot study with no control group. The authors found promising results for facial elasticity and call for larger controlled trials with objective measurements.]
